Patricia Campbell, a dedicated primary school teacher at Carnalridge Primary School, is on the brink of an exciting milestone as she prepares for the publication of her first children’s book, ‘Suzie’s Big Wish’, by Austin Macauley Publishers.
Hailing from Coleraine, Patricia is not only a local author but also a devoted wife to Stephen and a mother to two daughters, Courtney and Nicole. Her journey into the world of literature began long before her teaching career, having completed her undergraduate degree and PGCE at Ulster University. Patricia has always nurtured a passion for creative writing, a spark ignited during her creative writing module in her undergraduate studies.
The seeds of ‘Suzie’s Big Wish’ were sown approximately 14 years ago, but it remained hidden until a serendipitous moment arose while Patricia was teaching a Year 1 class. During a discussion with one of her classroom assistants, Kym Rabone, Patricia shared her long-forgotten story. Kym encouraged her to present the unpublished manuscript to her students, suggesting that there could be no better audience for her tale. The children responded enthusiastically, prompting Kym to urge Patricia to pursue publication. Inspired by their reaction, Patricia reached out to Austin Macauley, a renowned publishing house with offices in London and New York, who expressed immediate interest in bringing her story to life.
‘Suzie’s Big Wish’ introduces readers to Suzie Starfish, a whimsical character brimming with dreams and big ideas. The narrative unfolds as a heartwarming exploration of friendship, aspirations, and the poignant reminder that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Suzie’s journey in search of her heart’s desires is sure to resonate with young readers, igniting their imaginations and encouraging them to chase their own dreams.
