
The Armoy Road Races, affectionately dubbed ‘The Race of Legends,’ kicked off with an exhilarating Friday evening of competition, showcasing the talents of some of the finest motorcycle racers.
Paul Jordan and Mike Browne emerged victorious in the opening two events, thrilling the crowd with their impressive performances.
In the Supertwins race, Northern Ireland’s own Paul Jordan demonstrated exceptional skill as he battled against early leader Michael Sweeney. After a tense start, Jordan managed to overtake Sweeney, ultimately securing victory by a commanding 5.5 seconds.
Both riders showcased their prowess on Aprilia machines, with Jordan clinching the fastest lap and setting a new lap record at an astonishing speed of 100.694 mph. Joe Yeardsley also made a notable impact, securing the podium in third place.
The Supersport race was equally thrilling, with Mike Browne riding his BPE by Russell Racing Yamaha, maintained a dominant position throughout the race, finishing with a comfortable 6.4 seconds lead over runner-up Sweeney, who competed on a Yamaha as well. Paul Jordan, after his success in the Supertwins, secured a respectable third place aboard his Honda.
With twelve more races scheduled for Saturday, fans eagerly anticipate more high-speed action. Roads around the circuit will close at 9:00 AM, setting the stage for another day of riveting motorcycle racing at Armoy.
