The community is in mourning following the peaceful passing of John McElderry, a local businessman and the driving force behind ‘John McElderry M&T Ltd’, who died on October 31 at his home on Craigahulliar Road, Portrush.
John was a devoted husband to Wendy and a proud father to Jade and Robbie, as well as a loving father-in-law to Aaron and Emily. He was also a doting grandfather to Bruce and Johnny, and a beloved son to John and Moyra, according to his funeral notice.
As a family-owned enterprise, John McElderry M&T Ltd has been an integral part of the agriculture industry for over a century, with its roots tracing back to the late 19th century. Under the leadership of John’s father, Mr. J K McElderry, who was instrumental in introducing modern agricultural machinery to the North Antrim region.
John McElderry’s life was marked by a commitment to innovation and service within the agricultural sector. He played a key role in the expansion of the family business, which is known for offering a wide range of premium parts and machinery, including the popular Massey Ferguson tractors. His dedication to the community and the agricultural industry earned him respect and admiration from customers and peers alike.
A celebration of John’s life will take place at the family business located at 24-26 Market Street, Ballymoney, on Tuesday at 1.00pm, followed by burial in Ballymoney Cemetery. The family has requested that the house remains private during this time of grief.
