As the cold spell recedes, Northern Ireland is set to face a series of yellow weather warnings over the weekend.
The transition to milder and wetter conditions brings potential disruptions, as heavy rain and strong winds are forecasted across the region.
A yellow warning for rain has been issued for all six counties in Northern Ireland, effective from 21:00 Saturday until 21:00 Sunday. A significant weather system will bring heavy rain from the west,. The rising temperatures will cause existing snow to melt, heightening the risk of flooding.
Additionally, a yellow warning for wind covers two phases. The first phase affects Antrim, Armagh, Down, Londonderry, and Tyrone, beginning at midnight on Sunday and lasting until 21:00 the same day. South to southeasterly winds are expected, with gusts ranging from 45–60 mph, and stronger gusts possible in exposed coastal areas.
The second phase of the wind warning affects Antrim, Londonderry, and Tyrone from 21:00 Sunday until noon on Monday. Strong southwesterly winds are anticipated, with coastal gusts potentially reaching 60–70 mph, and a possibility of gusts as high as 80 mph in the most exposed locations.
Residents are advised to prepare for potential disruptions and to stay informed through official weather channels. Flooding and travel delays could be expected, particularly in areas with accumulated snow or near the coast. As conditions evolve, people should remain vigilant and heed any updates or advisories issued by local authorities.
