Plans for three new apartments in Ballymoney have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Council’s planning department recently received the application for three duplex apartments on lands located immediately north of 33 Townhead Street.

An accompanying Design and Access Statement said the site is located within the development limit of Ballymoney, within an established residential development, has existing access from Townhead Street, and is closed to local services, public transport, and town centre amenities.

“The proposal represents efficient use of underutilised land [and] the duplex format contributes to housing mix and density,” the statement added.

“The proposal ensures adequate daylight and outlook, appropriate privacy distances, [and] noise and disturbance [is] minimised.

“The development is located within a highly accessible urban area, there is available on-street capacity or nearby public parking, [and] evidence is provided to demonstrate that parking demand can be accommodated.

“The units represent an efficient use of a small urban site, reflect the evolving density of the surrounding area, [and] do not result in overdevelopment.”
