The BBC has unveiled an exciting first-look teaser for the fourth series of the critically acclaimed Blue Lights, set to launch on BBC iPlayer and BBC One this autumn. This BAFTA and RTS award-winning drama continues to captivate audiences with its gripping portrayal of police work and community dynamics.

In the newly released clip, Constable Shane Bradley, played by Frank Blake, pulls over an elderly driver, David (Trevor Gill), and his passenger, Imelda (Rosamund Monteith). The upcoming series features a stellar cast, including Siân Brooke (known for Sherlock and Trying) as Grace, Martin McCann (Trespasses, Hostage) as Stevie, and Katherine Devlin (The Day Of The Jackal, Vikings) as Annie. Nathan Braniff returns as Tommy, alongside Frank Blake reprising his role as Shane. Notably, Richard Dormer, who portrayed Gerry Cliff in the first series, returns, joined by Hannah McClean as solicitor Jen Robinson and Jonathan Harden as disgraced former Inspector Jonty, in a storyline that promises to resolve lingering mysteries from previous seasons.

Produced by Two Cities Television and co-produced by Gallagher Films, the six-episode series continues to push boundaries in storytelling. With contributions from notable figures in the industry, including co-creators and executive producers Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, and producer Brendan Mullin, the show maintains its high production values. Episodes 1-3 are directed by Angela Griffin, while Sam O’Mahony takes the helm for episodes 4-6.

Commissioned by Lindsay Salt, the BBC’s Director of Drama, Blue Lights is poised to engage both loyal fans and new viewers alike this autumn. With global sales managed by BBC Studios, the series has already found success in over 160 territories, solidifying its status as a significant player in contemporary television drama.

As anticipation builds, viewers can look forward to more intense storylines and character development in this latest chapter of Blue Lights.
