Police were called to the town centre of Coleraine early on Sunday morning following reports of a violent dog attack. Witnesses stated that one dog had attacked two other dogs and an individual in the vicinity.
The incident unfolded around 7:40 AM on 5th July, when police received a call regarding the ongoing attack in The Diamond area. Officers quickly arrived on the scene, where they managed to secure the loose dog, which was subsequently taken to Benvarden Kennels for safekeeping.
In an official statement, the police confirmed that a second dog had been severely mauled during the incident. They stated: “Police received a report of an ongoing dog attack in The Diamond area of Coleraine at around 7.40am on Sunday 5th July. Police secured the loose dog and were notified that a second dog had been badly mauled. Further enquiries will be carried out by the council dog warden.”
The police are urging anyone with additional information about the attack to come forward to assist with the investigation.
