As spooky season approaches, Coleraine Museum is delighted to announce a new exhibition exploring the ‘horrid’ histories of Coleraine through the centuries.
Opening to the public on Friday 30th October at Coleraine Town Hall, ‘Coleraine’s Horrid History’ display will explore topics including the woeful workhouse, poxy plagues, local ghost stories, horrible school days, true crime stories and more!
Coleraine’s long past includes many fascinating dark facts, twisted tales and horrible heritage so make sure to visit Coleraine Town Hall and see what you can discover.
The Exhibition is suitable for families with supervision – some content may not be suitable for young children (this will be signposted).
The Exhibition will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays (excl. bank holidays), 11am to 4pm, and will run until Saturday 27thFebruary.

Halloween Fun Day
To coincide with the opening of Coleraine’s Horrid History, Coleraine Museum will host a free Halloween Fun Day on Saturday 31st October at Coleraine Town Hall, 1pm to 3pm (in partnership with Coleraine Connect).
Activities will include facepainting, doodle art, spooky crafts, horrid characters, terrifying tales, fire eaters, music and more!
Horrid History Walking Tours
Meeting at Coleraine History Hub at the Diamond Centre | Friday 30th October & Thursday 5th November | 4pm
A one hour walking tour of Coleraine Town Centre that will explore the ‘horrible’ heritage of the town and some of its ghastly goings on through the ages. Booking essential.
Murder Most Foul – A True Crime Evening at Coleraine Town Hall
Thursday 26th November | 7.30pm | Age 18+
An evening exploring some of the more unsavoury stories from Coleraine’s past. Hosted by dark historian and content creator Robert J. Simpson and joined by special guests. Perfect for any true crime fans. Booking essential.
