Ballymoney entrepreneur Catherine Gault has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Local Women Magazine Power to Switch Business Awards, recognising her work building a training and employability hub to support people across Northern Ireland.

Cathrine is shortlisted for Entrepreneur of the Year and Best North Coast & Ballymena Business of the Year. The awards recognise her business, Elite Connected, which delivers qualifications, training and employability support.

Five years ago, Gault and her family invested their life savings and secured loans to buy a derelict building in Ballymoney. They transformed the property into a centre offering training and employment support.

Elite Connected provides industry-recognised courses intended to develop practical skills, knowledge and confidence. The business also provides local employment and supports people seeking to advance their careers.

Speaking to the Ballymoney Buzz filling the announcement, Cathrine said, “Being named a finalist in two categories is a very proud and emotional moment for me. To see how far the business has come since then, and to know that we are helping people gain qualifications, build confidence and take steps towards employment, makes all the hard work worthwhile.

“This achievement isn’t just about me; it’s about the team, the people we support, and the local community who have been part of our journey.

“I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way, and I hope we can continue to create opportunities and make a positive difference across Ballymoney and Northern Ireland.”

The double shortlisting recognises five years of work to expand access to learning and create new opportunities for individuals and the local community.
