A number of customers have reported issues with their vehicles following the purchase of unleaded petrol from ASDA in Coleraine.
The unleaded pumps have now been closed.
One customer took to social media, posting: “Has anyone put petrol in their car at Asda between Sunday and today and their car has shit itself?”
“My xxxx and xxxx car both got petrol and both cars seem to have the same problem, The cars were chugging and then completely broke down.
“The petrol pumps at Asda are now out of order as there’s now an investigation going on and they told us on the phone it could be a few days before they get back to us and I was also told to get a sample of the fuel in the car but it seems like no one can do that.
“Our car is now in the shop with a bill and now we might have to drain the fuel for a further bill. Surely there are other people from Coleraine going through the same thing?”
After posting, a number of other customers have come forward, including one which replied, “It’s happened me
as well mate.
“| was back in yesterday asking and today and still nobody out to test the fuel.
“Car starts and dies out. RAC was out and it has to goto Dacia now.
“The girl told me there is about 7 people who have had the same problem.”
We contacted ASDA who have said: “We’re aware of a small number of complaints relating to our Coleraine petrol station and are actively investigating. We’d like to thank customers for their understanding while we look into this and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
