A Big Breakfast in Ballymoney raised £1,363 on Saturday morning for Macmillan Cancer Support, taking Team Ballymoney’s fundraising total for the year to £19,865.
The team thanked everyone who attended and supported its fundraising over the past years. KBC Foods in Ballymoney sponsored the food for the breakfast.
The fundraiser is part of a long-running effort led by Ballymoney campaigner Sammy McClements. After being diagnosed with grade 3 bowel cancer in 2012, aged 52, he underwent surgery and a year of chemotherapy.
Following his treatment, Mr McClements pledged to raise money so others affected by cancer would not have to face it alone. Since July 2013, he has organised an annual charity sit-out at The Diamond in Ballymoney, alongside breakfasts, sponsored walks and events at the Ballymoney Royal British Legion Social Club.
Mr McClements and his team have raised more than £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through their efforts and the support of the local community.
