Speaking at Ballymoney TUV BBQ in Dervock on Saturday night, Jim Allister, on the back of the TUV’s sustained rise in the polls, said as unionism recognised the depth of the betrayal of the Protocol and how such was aided by the DUP’s lies, unionist voters were increasingly turning to TUV, which had presented the unvarnished truth throughout this crisis.
“Trust is hard to earn, but easily lost. The public want the truth; that is what they get from TUV.
“The Protocol is dismantling our Union; our economy is being realigned with that of the Republic through rampant trade diversion; subjecting us in 300 areas to foreign laws is making us an EU colony; the noose of the Irish Sea border – far from being removed as DUP lies claimed – is tightening every day. Ordinary unionists know this and know who told them the truth. They also know who is aiding both Sinn Fein and EU rule through Stormont.
“The challenge ahead is daunting, but TUV is up for it. In the next Assembly election we will give unionism the opportunity to change direction by pledging no executive, of any sort, unless and until the Protocol is removed. If needed, we will gladly reassert the leverage that the DUP surrendered and synchronise it with the prospect of a radical change of government in London.
“In the battle ahead there is room for all like-minded unionists. There is room in TUV for all principled, honest and determined unionists.”
