Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Richard Stewart, has praised the community spirit on display at today’s Love Portballintrae Litter Pick.
Speaking after the event, the Deputy Mayor said:
“It was a real pleasure to join local residents and volunteers at today’s litter pick in Portballintrae. Events like this highlight the pride we all share in our villages and towns, and the importance of working together to protect and care for our environment.
“A special mention must go to the Ukrainian families who joined us as part of the Friends of Alliance group. It was fantastic to see everyone coming together, new and longstanding members of the community alike united by the same commitment to making Portballintrae a better, cleaner, and more welcoming place for all.”
“The day’s activities included a village litter pick followed by a community sausage sizzle and hotdogs at the Village Hall, before moving to Salmon Rock Beach for the ever-popular family sandcastle competition.”
Alderman Stewart added:
“This event was a wonderful celebration of community spirit. My thanks go to the organisers, the volunteers, and everyone who took part. It’s days like this that show the very best of our borough,people coming together and looking after their community, enjoying time with friends and neighbours.”
